How Digital Transformation will bend the curve of the linear economy toward the circular – carbon zero, climate positive, and regenerative

The Climate 4.0 Project of the SmartNations Foundation is a multimedia, research, and conference platform for telling the stories of how Digital Transformation, Industry 4.0 and Smart Cities technology solutions will help lead toward Climate 4.0 Economy – the climate positive and regenerative climate of the future – at every scale of community, society and enterprise.

The SmartNations Foundation thesis is that the technologies of Digital Transformation are now being applied directly to climate change mitigation and abatement solutions at an ever-increasing pace.

Further, Climate 4.0 posits that, if properly designed and implemented with economic circularity as a "first principle," Digital Transformation can achieve remarkable dematerialization and decarbonization while infusing new – of exponential in scale – digital and data-driven value creation.

When properly designed with forward-looking policy and governance, new prosperity can be achieved in tandem with climate-change mitigation.

How do public sector policy and governance enable, encourage and properly guide this? How do enterprises, large and small, drive this change?

SmartNations projects principally target clear alignment with and achievement of applicable UN SDGs. Each project undertaken is designed for carbon-zero emissions, circular-economy operations, and lowest-possible embodied carbon footprint in building materials and equipment.

SmartNations Foundation seeks worthy projects in emerging and developing economies, particularly. In the USA, this includes designated "Opportunity Zones", that may be eligible for ESG Impact Investing.

Founded originally as a website community hosted in Norway in 2017, SmartNations Foundation set down roots in the USA as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit corporation, with offices in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 2020.
